About Abanico Coffee Roasters

Abanico Coffee Roasters is a woman-owned San Francisco specialty coffee roaster and coffee shop rooted in Latin American culture. Founded by Salvadoran-born Ana Valle, Abanico serves thoughtfully crafted specialty coffee alongside signature drinks inspired by the flavors, ingredients, and traditions of Latin America. Located in San Francisco’s Mission District, Abanico brings together quality coffee, culture, and warm hospitality.

Abanico Coffee Roasters is a coffee shop in San Francisco, California. It is listed at 2121 Mission St, San Francisco, CA 94110, which places it among the local businesses of San Francisco that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by.

Coffee in the United States is served by three kinds of places: national chains with drive-thrus and mobile ordering, independent neighborhood cafes that double as a workspace or a meeting spot, and specialty shops that roast their own beans or buy single-origin lots and brew them by pour-over, espresso or cold brew. Most open between 6 and 7 a.m. on weekdays, slightly later on weekends, and the busiest hour is the commute rush before 9. A drip coffee runs a few dollars, espresso drinks and specialty pours more, and tipping a dollar or a percentage on the card reader is customary but not required. Nearly every cafe offers free Wi-Fi, though some limit laptop seating at peak times or on weekends, and outlets are often the scarce resource.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 7:30 am–4 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (415) 896-4678. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is abanicocoffee.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.6 out of 5 from 280 reviews, which is a strong result for a coffee shop in San Francisco and suggests consistent service.

San Francisco is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around San Francisco is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Tried the coffee. It tasted pretty good, but could be a touch stronger. Overall it was really good flavor and just enough sweetness without killing you.

Abanico Coffee Roasters is a standout gem in the Mission, offering a warm, cozy, and relaxing atmosphere that’s perfect for unwinding. The service is excellent, but the real draw is the amazing coffee. As a woman-owned business, they intentionally source their beans directly from women-owned farms across Latin America, ensuring every cup supports global equity without sacrificing quality.

Was looking forward to checking this place out. Felt like we were bothering the staff (male and female). I’m not one to write reviews but felt this was warranted. The female was on the phone and complained about some interaction she was dealing with. When we let the female know that we were not sticking around she made a go away gesture with her hand. Wild interaction. In short the vibes were off upon stepping into the establishment. I hope their day turns around. They have an awesome cafe with really cool artisan work.

Abanico is truly a gem in the heart of San Francisco’s Mission District. From the moment you walk in, you can tell how much care and intention goes into every detail. Every time I’ve stopped by it’s clean, warm, and inviting, which makes it such a place to sit, catch up with a friend, or work from home. That said, the real star of the show is their coffee. You can taste the quality in every sip. Their specialty drinks are creative without being overdone, and my personal favorite, the cafΓ© con morro, is absolutely rich and perfectly balanced. Abanico is one of those places that keeps pulling you back in, not just for the coffee but for the atmosphere, the people, and the sense that you’re supporting something genuinely special in the city.

Abanico Roasters is a must-visit in the Mission. Their coffee is truly exquisite, with bold, robust flavors that stand out from the first sip. The customer service is exceptional, and the cafΓ© is clean and beautifully maintained. I’m already looking forward to my next visit to try another one of their coffees.
